Sept. 23rd, 2007:
Hey everyone!
It's been a long time, hope you are all swimming along in your lives with creative ecstatic abandon. I'm in the midst of "back in Boston" fervor again, enjoying myself immensely. Thursday night, after snagging a last minute ticket from a fan who had an extra one at the door, I got to see Stevie Wonder in concert from the third row. It was absolutely amazing (did I think it would be anything but??) At the show, I happened to find myself next to two lovely booking agents that had back stage passes and invited me to join them. Consequently I shook the man's hand and got a picture with him, which I will post in due time. The only thing I could think of to say when he greeted me was, "Hello Steve." Ah, well, I was overwhelmed by the chance to meet my number one hero (AND he was writing a song at the keyboard two feet away from me!!)
Wow, I will never forget that night as long as I live.
June 29th, 2007:
Hello lovelies,
It's been a while...hope you are all healthy and smiling and loving the summer! I've been moving around quite a bit. After being a piano lady in Switzerland for four months, I came back to Boston at the beginning of May and recorded 7 more songs with the Nates. Nathan Sabanayagam is coproducing and playing drums and Nate Edgar is playing bass. Also on the project, we got Sam Kininger stankin up the funk on one tune (yeah!), also world renowned drummer Kenwood Dennard on jaw harp (!), as well as awesome guitar players Mike Keenan and Jeff Lockhart and Matt Jenson on hammond organ. It was an amazing month of making musical babies with outstandingly phenomenal musicians. Check out some rough mixes on my myspace page for a preview of the upcoming album!
Then at the beginning of June, I flew home to San Francisco, where I'm teaching and performing throughout the summer. Catch me at Lefty O'Douls in Union Square for some upcoming shows! I'm singing/playing piano solo...this is a fun hang with lots of Irish natives and tourists all singing around the piano. Come by, have a drink and request a tune! Check the shows page for more info!
love,
Sarah B
February 12th, 2007: Hey everyone, this is Sarah B, now taking over in first person on my own website, rather than writing in third person and pretending that I'm not the one in charge of these blurbs! I just got done with a long strange month of playing 6 nights/week, 6 hours a night at the lovely strange Hotel Storchen Bar in Zurich, Switzerland. It's been an interesting January with bartender Helma and the whole gang. Lots of cigars and heavy drinks.
In other news, the Nates are coming to Switzerland to record! Nate Edgar and Nathan Sabanayagam will be joining me at Powerplay Studios in Maur. We're gonna finish this album if it's the last thing we do, haha!
My next gig is in Duppendorf, Switzerland throughout the month of March. I'll be at LEVEL every day March except Sunday.
Love,
Sarah B
